Intermittent Fasting Night Shift Hacks to Adopt for Yourself
1. Fast While You Work
For me, whenever I’m busy at work I am just not hungry.
I work a typical 9 to 5 workday. Well, a little shorter actually since I’m an entrepreneur and I have the freedom to make my own schedule but pretty much morning to mid to late afternoon Monday through Friday is when I work.
Early on in the week when I have a lot of things I’m working on, I will often work through breakfast and lunch. You’re in the zone, you’re working and you just forget to eat. If you’re like this, consider fasting while you’re at work.
2. Plan your fast around your work schedule
This is easy enough to do, believe it or not. You can actually eat anytime you want to. I have seen success stories from people doing OMAD and eating at midnight or 1am, and eating a huge meal at that, only to lose 70 or 80 pounds!
The time that it does not matter. The main thing is that you keep your fasting window intact. So don’t let the hours that you’re working better you from choosing your optimal fasting time and just plan your fast around your work schedule.
3. Try new things
Don’t be afraid to play around with your eating window. In the beginning start small and experiment to try new things to find a suitable time. It’s your night shift schedule well.
4. Include others
You can make it really fun if you include others to participate in intermittent fasting with you. It becomes a fun challenge and it instantly creates community.
Anytime I’m dieting with someone else, it helps me stick with it that much longer and I see much better results than if I did it alone. Include co-workers and diet together on IF.
5. Pack lunch
If you choose to have your eating window during your night shift, that’s totally fine.
Make sure you pack plenty of food with you when you go to work. I would help my husband do this when he was doing intermittent fasting.
We packed a small stores worth of food and goodies for him every week to ensure that he didn’t run out of food and go hungry while he was working.
His eating window started while he was at work and it ended while he was at work so it was super important to make sure he had plenty of food available to him to feed on during his eating window.
Do this even if your workplace has a cafeteria or a place nearby to eat like a cafe or restaurant.
You never know when an establishment you were counting on eating at closes early for the day and then you’ll be out of luck with little to no food for the day if you didn’t in advance.
